Our emotions (energy in motion) play a significant role in our physical well-being, a larger role than many understand. Our body has seven energy centers, also known as Chakras, which regulate our emotions, and when they are blocked or imbalanced, they impact our physical health and our general flow in life.

The seven primary Chakras are The Crown, The Third Eye, The Throat, The Heart, The Solar Plexus, The Sacral, and the Root Chakra. They run along the spine and correspond to different nerves and organs in the body, and they are also related to different aspects and emotions in our life.

In this post, I want to focus on the Solar Plexus Chakra, also referred to as "Manipura." The Solar Plexus is located in the stomach area and is represented by the color yellow. The Solar Plexus is related to gut reactions, self-esteem, and confidence. If a person suffers from low self-esteem, anxiety, a lack of purpose, victim mentality, or not feeling good enough, the solar plexus will become blocked or imbalanced. Physically this blockage can show up as stomach pain, bloating, gas, ulcers, or other digestive issues.

It also doesn't take much for a chakra to become blocked. An imbalance in the Solar Plexus can easily come about due to anxiety, negative feedback, criticism, rejection, or feeling unappreciated. The nerves and emotions will become bundled, and you will feel it in your stomach. But if a person is unaware, their Solar Plexus Chakra could be blocked from childhood for various reasons. Feelings of defeat, disappointment, frustration, and unworthiness become their general temperament in life.

It is possible to heal the blockage by working through these emotions, shifting the energy in your everyday life, meditating, and repeating affirmations. If you think your solar plexus may be blocked, it's important to understand what is causing the dis-stress and shift into a positive mindset about it and know what actions you can take to heal it. To heal and unblock your Solar Plexus it's essential to build back confidence in yourself.


  • Empower yourself and build confidence by setting some goals for yourself. Take small action steps towards completing those goals every day. As you complete each step, you will build up your confidence.

  • Dress confidently and show up as your best self every day. Power outfits are a real thing, so put some effort into energizing your wardrobe. Focus on how you FEEL in your clothes. When you shift how you feel, you shift your energy. If there are things that no longer feel good when you put them on, clean out your closet and make space for things that make you feel good.

  • Take care of your physical appearance by doing what makes you feel your best – whether it's a new haircut, skincare routine, or working out. Feeling confident in your skin will empower and energize you.

  • Focus on daily movement, especially in the stomach area (Yoga and Pilates are great for this!)

  • Enjoy Yellow Foods that support the Solar Plexus such as bananas, pineapple, and ginger tea.

  • Use Visualization during meditation to imagine a healing yellow light over the stomach region.

  • Place a healing crystal, such as citrine, over the stomach region during your meditation. Citrine is known to calm Digestion on a physical level, but can also heal on an energetic level (Cool Fact: Citrine is a self-cleaning stone, no cleansing required!)

  • Repeat an affirmation that makes you feel empowered, strong, confident, and capable like this one Louise Hays suggests for the solar plexus in her book 'You Can Heal Your Life':

"I trust my inner voice. I am strong, wise, and powerful."
