Have you ever taken inventory of where you are putting your energy? More importantly, are you paying close attention to how those things make you feel? Your energy is your biggest asset. We all have the same 24 hours in a day to create the life we want, and we can choose where we put our time, attention, and energy. A big part of healing and transforming your life is wisely choosing what you consume on a daily basis because what you are consuming is either increasing your vibrational frequency or lowering it. Remember, your vibrational frequency is your point of attraction. Your energy is everything!
Television is something that many people turn to at the end of the day to unwind or check out. It's completely understandable and relatable, but many aren't aware that television is a powerful programming tool. That's why a show is called a 'program'.
In The Biology of Belief, Dr. Bruce Lipton explains that during the first seven years of a child's life, their brain is operating in lower frequency states such as Delta and Theta (similar to the state we call 'hypnosis'). When the brain is in these lower frequency states, the child is observing and absorbing everything from their environment, including the television programs they watch. They are downloading programs from these shows into their mind as data, which forms their belief systems and view of the world. Then they go out into the world, and their lives become a reflection of their internal programs and states of consciousness.
Programming still continues after the age of seven, but by the time we are 30 years old, 95% of our life is running on autopilot - based on the programs we downloaded as a child unless we take responsibility to reprogram our minds and raise our consciousness.
One of the best examples that shows the direct impact media can have is not from a show I was watching but a book I was reading. It was a fictional book by the same author of the television show 'Big Little Lies'. In the book, a woman in Australia is left by her husband for her best friend. Sounds pretty far-fetched, right? Well, when I went to my pilates class the following morning, a woman I had become friendly with told me that her friend from New Zealand was coming to stay with her because she just found out that her husband was leaving her for her best friend! I think my jaw dropped because I instantly made the connection, and I got rid of the book as soon as I got home.
What we give our attention to is constantly manifesting into our reality, and television is a powerful influence that can have a profound impact on your mind. Many programs are filled with negativity, hidden messages, and agendas to influence your opinions and beliefs.
It's not that I don't watch ANY television, but if you are watching, reading, or listening to content in a lower vibration (think fear, anger, grief), you are tuning your own frequency to those lower vibrations. Mainstream media is a perfect example of a program that aligns with the frequency of fear and programs people's minds through repetition.
On the other hand, I love watching inspirational documentaries or a light-hearted movie that makes me laugh, but it has to be something that feels uplifting, inspiring and puts me in a good mood. For example, I love fashion, and two of the documentaries I watched that positively influenced my energy were The Ralph Lauren and Slim Aarons documentaries on Amazon Prime.
I have just learned to be more discerning about what I watch and aware of what doesn't make me feel good. I would rather invest my time reading books I can learn from or doing something else that feels uplifting and inspiring – something that raises my vibration.
